Are you an experienced Quality Manager with a background in managing quality assurance in an engineering environment?

Do you have substantial knowledge and experience of developing and implementing Quality strategy that drives continuous improvement within the framework of ISO Standards (9001, 14001 and 45001)?

The UK Atomic Energy Authority have an excellent opportunity for a Quality Manager to join their team within the Assurance Division. You will work with stakeholders across the business, be responsible for our Integrated Management System, drive the continuous improvement cycle and maintain certification to standards. You will manage a team of circa 8 quality professionals, providing advice and support to the organisation on all matters relating to quality.

Key accountabilities to include:

- Developing and implementing the Quality Strategy for UKAEA, that supports delivery of our mission and goals

- Leading the Quality cultural change programme across the organisation, including development and implementation of quality training

- Managing allocation of quality assurance support across the organisation as well as performance managing your team

- Reviewing and improving our Management System in accordance with the combined certificate (ISO9001:2015, ISO14001:2015 and ISO45001:2017) requirements ensuring it can accommodate the organisational growth and diversification

- Developing a programme of continual improvement (e.g. customer focus, leadership, engagement with people, process approach and relationship with key stakeholders)

- Establish and manage quality KPIs providing management reporting on performance

- Work with UKAEA business units / programmes to meet UKAEA customer / stakeholder requirements, ensuring an appropriate system for customer feedback and complaints.

The UKAEA hosts and manages the JET nuclear fusion energy experiment on behalf of the EU and is also home to the UK`s MAST-U fusion energy experiment. UKAEA also works with industry and other third parties to develop new technologies currently in Remote Handling and Materials research. Following recent UK funding two new centres of excellence in tritium fuel handling and component testing and validation are being built. Knowledge skills and experience

Essential
- Degree or equivalent ideally in an engineering/science discipline
- Knowledge and experience of ISO 9001 based quality management systems
- Extensive experience in managing quality assurance within an engineering or manufacturing environment
- Ability to clearly communicate effectively to all areas of the organisation at all levels
- Excellent interpersonal skills to enable effective working relationships across the organisation
- Experience of managing teams
- Experience of auditing internal processes and external suppliers

Desirable
- Lead Auditor qualification
- Knowledge of industrial standards for fabrication and welding
