An interim Environmental Advisor job has arisen to work in the Rail sector in South Wales. You will be providing professional environmental advice to management relating to environmental and sustainability matters at all operating sites and offices as well as ensuring legal compliance and that customer expectations are met relating to environmental and sustainability issues. In addition, you will be tasked with investigating all Environmental non-conformances and audit findings, making recommendations as to suitable and adequate corrective and preventative actions required
You will be ensuring Environmental policies and procedures are being implemented and maintained as well as providing operational and functional management with advice for obtaining legal compliance consents, permits, licences, waste exemptions, discharge permits, land drainage/ordinary watercourse consents, abstraction licences, Section 61 Prior Consents, etc.
You will be liaising with project teams of the Project Specific Environmental Management Plans to ensure all key risks are identified, mitigated and subsequently managed appropriate to the level of environmental risk associated with the project/activities. You will be monitoring performance against the Environmental and Sustainability strategy and objectives, system, standards, processes and procedures and report back to senior management as well as raising awareness in the business through identifying training gaps, then arranging and co-ordinating.
What you will need to succeed
You must have extensive experience in a similar Environmental role within the construction industry along with good knowledge and experience of statutory Environmental legislation and regulations, as well as industry best practice. You will be familiar and conversant with ISO 14001: 2015 and have a CSCS card. Ideally you will be a member of IEMA.
