An organised Health & Safety Officer to join a leading bus operator in the South, based in Eastleigh.

My client are an established, award-winning bus operator in the south, with core brands that cover Bournemouth, Salisbury, Southampton and the Isle of Wight. Their network of comprehensive services also stretch across the wider, rural parts of Dorset, Hampshire and Wiltshire. The business operate a fleet of over 800 buses which run on over 135 bus routes, covering both regular local and seasonal tourist routes. The portfolio of buses within the group are locally branded to give local identity to the towns they operate in.
The company employ nearly 2,000 staff, enjoy excellent business relationships with local universities and work well with the communities that they operate in.
Your new role
As one of 2 Health and Safety Officers, you will report to the Health, Safety and Risk Manager (no direct reports). Working hours: 40/week, Monday-Friday (1 hour lunch). This is a varied, mobile role that will offer both office and site-based working. The client are flexible on your base location: either Eastleigh, Swindon or Salisbury. You must have a Full UK Driving Licence and access to your own vehicle, mileage can be claimed at 45p/mile.
Key purpose: to ensure that the Company meets its legal and moral responsibilities to the safety of its employees and that the requirements of current legislation are adhered to.
Please note that you might be required to work outside of normal working hours in case of an emergency or accident (rare occasions).
What you'll need to succeed
The ideal candidate will be an adaptable person, able to work well on their own initiative and under instruction and possess excellent organisational/communication skills.
A background in a similar Health and Safety role within a bus/coach operator will be an advantage, but the client are flexible on industry. You must hold a NEBOSH General Certificate or be a Technical Member of IOSH.
