An exciting opportunity, London based, has arisen within a dynamic and fast paced commercial property company for a dedicated Head of Safety. With a vast portfolio of unique commercial London properties our client provides state of the art working environments to a host of businesses.

Working closely with key stakeholders, project managers and building managers the primary focus will be to lead on Health and Safety, providing advice to the Board, ensuring compliance across the business and essentially provide proactive engagement to develop a culture of safe working practices.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring Health and Safety compliance across the business and site locations

  • Engaging with Building Managers and Construction Project Managers at site location, assisting with the drive of positive culture, providing specialist advice, support and coaching.

  • Development of the health and safety management system to ensure it reflects best practice

  • Maintain and inform on Health and Safety Legislation and manage Insurance Risk Improvement

  • Oversee the Fire Risk Management process across the portfolio

  • Day to day leadership on health and safety including investigating/assisting in incidents and coaching contractors to implement corrective actions to drive performance improvements

  • Assist in selection of contractors/suppliers evaluating H&S competence

  • Supporting the wider team in the development and delivery of the strategy, identifying opportunities to enhance the effectiveness of the health and safety function internally and externally

    Essentially the successful candidate must have:

  • Previous Health and Safety experience within built environments, property portfolios, construction projects and associated risks

  • Minimum Nebosh Diploma (or equivalent)

  • CMIOSH or working towards

  • Strong working knowledge of Building and Workplace Regulations

  • Knowledge of Fire Safety Regulations

  • Nebosh Fire - preferable

  • Ideally experience of training

    This role will suit a sociable and accomplished safety professional who is approachable with a ‘hands-on’ and ‘can-do’ attitude. You will need to have the ability to build strong relationships across the business at all levels, possess excellent communications skills and to be prepared to make unpopular decisions should they be required.
