The University of London Property & FM Team is looking for a dynamic and progressive group of professionals to join its expanding team.

The significant recruitment across the department comes at an exciting time at the University of London, with plans for development across the Bloomsbury Campus, significant increases in the provision of residential accommodation and leading in environmental sustainability. There are a number of very exciting technical and architectural projects on the horizon which requires a dynamic and innovative Property & FM Team to support. We are recruiting for seven positions: Head of Sustainability, Health, Safety & Procurement, Senior Project Manager, Health & Safety Manager, Fire Safety Officer, Compliance Officer, Procurement Officer and Building Services Engineer

The Property & Facilities Management Department is responsible for a diverse and historic estate of over 140 buildings, centred in Bloomsbury but including properties across London and one in Paris. The University is implementing a 10-20 year master plan across the Bloomsbury estate and aiming to grow both the teaching and residential estates. In addition to this the University has aspirations to be the sector leader in sustainability and achieve zero carbon by 2036.

Sustainability, Health, Safety and Procurement Team

A new team is being established providing cross organisational support and leadership for sustainability, health, safety, compliance, supply chain and procurement. Environmental sustainability is core to the University of London’s ethos and operations. A 47% reduction in carbon emissions since 2010 has already been achieved and the University is determined to push towards a zero carbon estate creating an open source, collaborative strategy for achieving this.

Alongside innovative and ground-breaking work on sustainability the team will ensure a robust approach to environmental, health, safety, fire and compliance. Ensuring that University employees, students and visitors are working and studying in a safe environment that contributes positively to wellbeing.

The procurement service for the estate sits within the team, bringing a unique opportunity to proactively manage our supply chain and influence and drive a holistic approach to contracts and projects with a focus on best practice sustainable growth of the estate.

The Role

Co-ordinate the management and performance of key compliance activities, across the University’s Estate; serving as the Duty Holder in respect of asbestos management and responsible/competent person for all other health and safety related issues.
