An experienced Security Manager is required for the Property & Facilities Department (PAF). They will be directly responsible for the provision and operation of security services across the university estate, as well as promoting a customer focused, and positive security culture. The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring the security and safety of University buildings and essential equipment. PAF manages all building services, sustainability, timetabling and the strategic development of the estate, contributing to the delivery of City University London’s strategic and operational objectives. The estate consists of 22 mainly freehold properties including 1 under construction (£65M City Law School) with a gross total footprint of approximately 118,000 sq. m (1.3 million sq. ft.).
The main responsibilities of this role will consist of assisting with the development, review and implementation of the University’s overall security strategy policies and procedures, as well as to ensure that both operating needs and long term institutional aspirations in safeguarding of people and property are adequately supported. This will include liaison with external counter-terrorism, police, fire and other emergency services, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of people as well as supporting the University’s corporate social reputation.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing staff and resourcing requirements, including the continuous professional development of their team.
- Security Management qualification (or relevant experience).
- Security Industry Authority (SIA) and member of The Association of University Chief Security Officers (AUCSO)
- Knowledge/demonstrable experience managing access control systems, including CCTV
- NEBOSH certificate
- Higher Education environment.
- IT/data governance
- Risk management including contingency planning, Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Management
- Security and sensitive matters of safeguarding, religious tolerance, radicalisation and other issues related to the combat of terrorism and anti-social behaviour in the context of Central London
