Salary: £41,741 to £51,952 depending on experience.
Sellafield Ltd is the company responsible for safely delivering decommissioning, reprocessing and nuclear waste management activities on behalf of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority.
We have a number of opportunities for safety specialists in the following specialisms: Conventional safety, Chemical Safety, Occupational Hygiene and Construction.
Applicants should have substantial EH&S experience on a large industrial site with experience of a range of hazard types.
The role of the Safety specialist is to provide authoritative professional Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) advice and support to a Programme/Project/Operating Unit which meets customer and stakeholder requirements to support effective delivery, whilst meeting Sellafield Ltd, legislative and regulatory requirements.
The Safety Specialist is integral part of the Corporate/ Programme/Project/Operating Unit and will participate in any appropriate EH&S forum, interfacing with stakeholders, customers and regulators as required.
Role holders are deployed around all areas of the site and play a vital role in advising management teams and colleagues on how to operate in line with regulatory and Sellafield Ltd requirements. The advice provided must balance regulatory requirements with operational demands which sometimes are in conflict with one another, which means determining EH&S solutions may require analysis of a range of options and prior scenarios to determine the best course of action. In complex situations where there is no clear precedent for action role holders will contribute to the solution, with EH&S Managers providing oversight.
