An interim Health and Safety Manager job has arisen for a public sector client in Oxfordshire. You will be managing a small team and you will be providing the organisation's leadership team with competent guidance and support in relation to Health, Safety and Wellbeing, in order that its services are delivered in accordance with legislation and good practice. You will ensure the organisation complies with Health and Safety legislation, regulation and good practice and ensure they have robust Health and Safety management system in place, ensuring legislation is followed and adhered to.
You will be contributing to key documents being formulated at Leadership/Senior Management level in relation to Risk Management, Emergency Planning and Business Continuity, giving advice guidance from a Health, safety and Wellbeing aspect as well as acting as their main source of competent advice on health, safety and wellbeing matters, working with stakeholders and partners to ensure a professional advisory service is available to all staff.
You will be advising on appropriate safety standards on safe systems of work to minimise risk of personal injury, fire or health hazard that may affect the health and safety of employees as well as ensuring appropriate organisational learning from accidents, incidents and near misses is carried out.
You will be carrying out regular site visits to all their sites and premises where staff are deployed, to review and audit Health, Safety and Wellbeing related matters. Furthermore you will take responsibility for developing and co-ordinating a programme of Health & Safety training consistent with the needs of the organisation.
The role requires somebody with good people management skills who believes in the principles of sensible and proportionate risk management. Somebody who can enable, encourage and influence others to think in a pragmatic way about overcoming health and safety issues, enabling things to take place safely. In addition you will be responsible for instilling and promoting Health Safety and Wellbeing culture within the organisation.

What you'll need to succeed
The successful candidate will have the NEBOSH diploma (or equivalent) and be chartered in Health and Safety. You will have excellent experience in Health & Safety, particularly experience of health and safety issues across a public sector organisation. They are looking for a personable individual with the necessary HSE knowledge and experience who is willing to take on the challenge of further and shaping the Health and Safety service. You will have detailed and thorough knowledge of health and safety legislation, regulations and good practice and the confidence to demonstrate professional leadership
