We are looking for an experienced Health, Safety and Environmental Manager to join our Repairs and Investment Team. Charnwood Borough Council has a housing stock of over 5,700 properties, and is looking for a manager to actively lead, manage and advise on all aspects of health, safety and environmental compliance for Landlord Services housing repairs, asset management and all housing management teams.
Reporting to the Repairs and Investment Manager, you will play a lead role for the review, development, implementation and monitoring of the health and safety management system ensuring the health, safety and welfare of all staff in line with current health and safety and associated legislation. You will monitor external housing repairs contractors, as well as internal repairs staff, to ensure compliance with health and safety requirements.
To be successful in this role, you will require detailed knowledge of health and safety legislation, its application and interpretation, particularly in relation to housing repairs and improvements in social housing. You will possess high level oral and written communication skills, and will have the ability to tailor your delivery style to suit different audiences. Furthermore, you must be able to drive and have access to a vehicle to undertake site visits.
With a population of over 171,000, Charnwood is one of the largest district councils in the country in terms of the number of residents. The borough sits centrally between the three cities of Nottingham, Derby and Leicester, extending from the town of Loughborough in the north to the edge of Leicester to the south. Charnwood is easily accessible from the M1 and the high speed rail link between Sheffield and London.
