At FCO Services, we protect information, assets and people all over the world, providing secure construction, secure digital solutions, and secure logistics to government-level customers at home and overseas. Operating in some of the most challenging locations across the world, it goes without saying that health & safety is a fundamental part of our work.
Keep teams safe in work environments all over the world
You will be playing an important and wide-ranging role within the FCO Services team responsible for providing health, safety and environmental training and advice. A key part of the job will be to deliver a programme of compliance audits for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office’s overseas estate, ensuring all audits are completed on time and to the right quality. Other responsibilities include developing, planning and implementing workplace training courses and acting as a point of contact for day-to-day health & safety queries from people working in overseas posts.
Provide up-to-the-minute advice, when and where it’s needed
As you can imagine, there are many constantly changing factors that can potentially impact the overseas estate of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. So as well as being qualified to technical or graduate membership level of IOSH (or equivalent), you must also be flexible enough to react to events, sometimes at short notice. Excellent organisational skills are important, as you’ll be working on an individual basis for much of the time, as well as forming part of multi-disciplinary teams. In addition, you’ll need a background in building services or facilities management, a track record of delivering health & safety training, and experience or knowledge of environmental management systems.
Take the next step onto a much bigger stage
If you’re a keen collaborator, and you’re looking to continually develop your skills, then this role gives you a unique opportunity to travel the world, working with and learning from people from a broad range of cultural backgrounds. You will also enjoy great work-life balance, flexible working opportunities and a range of excellent benefits including an on-site OFSTED-registered nursery and Civil Service pension. In short, it’s your job bigger.
All our employees have to be security cleared to the highest level, so you will need to undergo a comprehensive vetting process before joining.
