BALPA is the leading trade union representing the UK’s 10,000 commercial pilots.  Located close to London Heathrow, we are looking for a Health and Safety Officer with a mix of analytical, research and presentation skills to join our friendly team.   Working within an established and well-structured Industrial Relations and Flight Safety functions, the main duties will comprise of:

  • Day to day work on health, safety and environment issues at national level;
  • Formulating health and safety strategies for lay safety representatives in the aviation industry;
  • Contributing to the overall development of their knowledge of health and safety practice and legislation of elected pilot representatives and BALPA full-time officers conducting collective bargaining in the UK’s leading commercial airlines and helicopter companies.

The person we are looking for will be comfortable working independently but must also be a great team worker.  Good IT skills are required with an ability in researching information, analysis and the presentation of results.  The role would suit an individual with a health and safety related qualification at graduate level or equivalent.
