HSE Recruitment are currently looking to hire a Health and Safety Manager for an interim project, working with an incredibly exciting start up company in London. This role will require someone roughly 3 days per week and will initially be for one month, but this may be extended based on the project need.

The company have taken on and are up-skilling a Facilities and Safety manager on a permanent basis. However while that up-skilling occurs they are keen to ensure that staff are looked after appropriately from day one, so are looking for an Interim Manager to come in and set up the basics. This would include things such as risk assessments, DSE assessments, lone worker policies, and anything else that you feel is appropriate for the business. It is also possible that the contract could be extended to allow you to work with the permanent hire a few days per week once they are in post, helping to develop them.

The office is unusual covering an engineering workshop and office space. There are also some heating issues within the building so this is something they would be keen for the interim manager to risk assess also. As a result the right person would probably have an industrial/manufacturing/production background, and be comfortable in a workshop or similar environments, as well as understanding the risks inherent in such machinery. You will also be used to dealing with office risks, such as DSE. Lone working is a potential area of risk for the company, so this should also be a focus. The client are very keen to ensure they have undertaken due diligence delivered by a H&S professional who can confirm they are legally compliant with H&S legislation and make recommendations/ help ensure that any gap areas are identified quickly and pragmatically.

The role requires a forward thinking, modern safety professional – able to engage with staff members rather than use safety as a "tick box" exercise. You will need to be NEBOSH Certificate (or equivalent) as a minimum but experience is more important that qualifications. In return you will receive a salary of £280 per day.
