Job Description

We are looking for a passionate senior Health and Safety professional, who will thrive in a cross functional position and have a natural desire to support business performance through continual improvement.

Key Accountabilities


  • To act as the source of expert health and safety advice for managers.

  • To enhance and deliver the company health & safety strategy.

  • To coach and mentor people managers in health and safety excellence.

  • Deliver to an exemplary professional standard.


  • To ensure Company Policy and practices are compliant with legal requirements and liaise with internal and external stakeholders providing key accurate management information.

  • To manage and deliver governance of the H&S Management System and audit programmes.

  • To manage the submission of H&S data in order to ensure correct classification, investigation and analysis.

  • To assist in the development of the company competence framework and monitor levels of compliance with competence framework requirements.

  • Drive and maintain ISO accreditation.

  • To manage, develop and implement levels of compliance and competency with regard to Safe Working Procedures.

  • To ensure that the reporting and investigating culture for risks, near misses, hazards and incidents are in line with the company expectations and that closeouts are adequate, timely and clearly documented.


    Continual Improvement

  • Drive and deliver a Continual improvement programme.

  • Driver and deliver safety culture and behavioural improvements.



  • To manage, develop and coordinate the Health and Safety Management System Policies, Standards and Procedures.

  • Train personnel on the Health & safety system.

  • To ensure Company Health and Safety Plans, Targets and Objectives are monitored, communicated and visible to all departments.

  • To ensure each department has robust plans for the implementation, monitoring and realisation of Company Health and Safety Plan, Targets and Objectives.

  • Manage data collection and reporting systems


    Person Specification

    Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Strong leadership experience in a Health & Safety management role.

  • Previous experience of driving behavioural changes and delivering cultural change.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Health & Safety legislation, guidance and best practice.

  • NEBOSH diploma or equivalent.

  • Hold a professional membership such as IOSH

  • 3 – 5 years in a HSE management role, with an industrial background.

  • Demonstrable experience of Risk Management within a Business wide context.

  • Experienced OH&S auditor in ISO standards 18001/ISO9001/14001

  • Competent coach & trainer, who can develop and influence senior management

  • IT Literate.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Commercial Awareness.

  • Willing and able to travel throughout Ancala Water Services Region and other areas when required a full driving licence is therefore required

  • Experience with the MOD

  • Water Industry Knowledge and experience

  • This position will require overnight stays/regular travel

  • Access to military bases will be required and the ability to obtain full Security clearance from the Ministry of Defence is a condition of employment.
