This is an exciting new role providing leadership for MRC Health & Safety and the development and implementation of MRC Health & Safety management systems, providing “Head of Profession” leadership. You will provide assurance with regards to Health & Safety to MRC senior management and the UKRI Head of Health & Safety.
The role involves overall responsibility for MRC’s Health & Safety with the overseeing of management, development and implementation of MRC’s H&S policy, management system and strategy. You will manage the implementation of the MRC H&S plan and monitor the performance against targets set. Also providing advice to MRC staff on all aspects of H&S and establishing a close working relationship with the MRC Units and Institutes to establish a comprehensive H&S plan.
You will need:
- NEBOSH/Postgraduate Diploma or equivalent in Health & Safety or a recognised vocational qualification (e.g. NVQ, SVQ) in Occupational Health & Safety to at least level 5A degree, or equivalent experience
- Significant experience in managing H&S in a life science environment or similar
- An understanding of the application of the H&S at Work etc. Act 1974 and other relevant legislation.
Some travel will be required to other MRC sites (mainly London, Cambridge and Harwell).
