An opportunity has arisen within our Health and Safety section for a Health and Safety Advisor, based at the Training and Development Centre in Handsworth, Sheffield.

The overall purpose of the role will be to maintain and improve health and safety throughout the organisation and ensure compliance with legal requirements on health and safety related issues by formulating policies and procedures.

To be considered for this role you will have previous experience of working in a busy health and safety team within a high hazard industry/sector, preferably the fire and rescue service.  You must possess the NEBOSH Certificate (or working towards NEBOSH Diploma) in Occupational Safety & Health or equivalent.  You should have training in accident investigation and noise assessing and be qualified in ‘Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector’ (PTLLS) or Equivalent.

The key duties will include the provision of health and safety assistance to all managers across all functions, developing procedures and guidance on a wide range of health and safety related matters, undertaking risk assessments and advising on risk control, delivery of health and safety training, completing workplace inspections, undertaking accident and incident investigations and conducting audits of the health and safety management system.
