If you have an excellent understanding of the fire safety requirements that relate to housing organisations and have managed an asset management /property services/fire safety or compliance team at a senior level, join Optivo as Head of Fire Safety & Special Projects.
One of the largest housing providers in the UK, Optivo is also a member of the G15 group of London’s biggest housing associations. Currently, we’ve over 45,000 homes across London, the South East and the Midlands, giving 90,000 people somewhere affordable to call their own. And, we’re still growing. Indeed, with a target of 1.500 homes in development every year, there’s never been a better time to join us.
What you’ll be doing
As Head of Fire Safety & Special Projects, you’ll be ensuring the overall integrity and coherence of the fire safety programme and responsible for implementing the change and business improvements required following the Hackitt Review and subsequent legislation/regulation. As well as carrying out a range of vital fire safety activities, we’ll rely on you to build professional relationships with key partners and influencers within the sector to enhance our reputation and understand best practice. Whether it’s strategically procuring and managing compliance contracts, developing technical standards or designing and initiating policy implementation plans, one thing is for sure, you won't be short of challenges here.
What you’ll need
You’ll need a relevant degree and/or professional building, engineering, maintenance or surveying services related qualification. You’ll also need a strong commercial/financial track record developed at a senior level within a Contracts Management environment. Experience of setting and managing significant property related budgets is key (ours is around £10 million) as is a track record in managing large building projects, particularly high rise block/complex buildings refurbishment. What’s more, you're familiar with developing processes and systems to ensure quality compliance records and data is captured, held and accessible to demonstrate building safety. And, as well as great ambassadorial, influencing, networking, promotional and negotiating skills, crucially, just like us, you put residents at the heart of everything you do.
What’s in it for you?
You’ll enjoy a great salary and benefits package, including 27 days (rising to 30 days) plus bank holidays, and a day off for your birthday. You can also buy and sell leave up to 5 days. We have generous pension and life assurance schemes too, plus a cycle to work scheme, travel loans and a car parking pass for essential car users (of which you’ll be one). Add in a healthcare cash plan covering dental, glasses, physiotherapy, flu (and other) vaccinations and 24 hour GP and more, plus Childcare vouchers and various high street discounts, (not to mention flexible working and in house career development opportunities) and we think you’ll agree that Optivo is a great place to work.
At Optivo our aim is to have a diverse and inclusive workforce where people are respected for who they are. We embrace and celebrate cultural diversity in the workplace and value the strengths it brings us as an organisation. We believe that everyone deserves to be treated with respect irrespective of age, caring responsibilities, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity/paternity, race, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation. We treat everyone we house, serve, employ and work with fairly and expect and encourage others to do the same
