Head of Fire Safety | Public Sector Organisation | up to £70k + Benefits
Your new company
A large public sector organisation in Cambridgeshire is looking to appoint a Head of Fire Safety to be the competent person for their large estate including clinical and academic centres. They are working towards being the best that they can be in all aspects and need someone competent to lead the Fire Safety Team within the Estates Directorate.
Your new role
Your role will be focused on all fire safety matters across the organisation including the reporting to board level, provision of competent advice and liaison with the local Fire Brigades. Day to day responsibilities include the following:
- maintaining levels of fire precaution inline with HTM and RRO
- leading the multi-disciplinary team in the estates division
- provision and content for fire training
- ensuring risk assessments meet statutory requirements
- develop and implement fire safety policy and underpinning procedures inline with legislation and guidance
- operational management of fire safety risks
- managing the team budget and look at annual capital investment plans
What you'll need to succeed
In order to be successful you will need to have in depth fire safety knowledge as well as significant experience in fire safety management in a complex environment. They are ideally looking for someone with a minimum of a NEBOSH Fire but preferably a CFPA Diploma or equivalent with evidence of CPD. You will need to have experience of managing a team and budget as well as technically undertaking fire risk assessments, working with capital projects and working with external bodies. Strong legislation knowledge is required especially RRO and HTM as well as skills int training, auditing, inspecting and managing contractors.
