Do you have experience in the management of hazardous substances in unique environments and development of health risk management strategies? 

Do you have experience in creating and producing bid proposals and identifying commercial opportunities for a range of work programmes? 

If so, we are seeking a hazardous substances project manager to join the Health Physics Group to identify and mature beryllium and tritium safety business opportunities required to support our corporate strategy. You will work closely with the UKAEA`s business development function acting as the subject matter expert on the progression of health physics related strategic business opportunities, suggesting improvement initiatives as well as producing a range of commercial reports. 

Key accountabilities will include: 

-Optimising UKAEA`s business opportunities in liaison with Business Development in the areas of beryllium and tritium safety advice, development and testing. 

-Act as the lead for the specification and delivery of a variety of internal support and external commercial projects. 

-Collating and producing new bid proposals for a range of national and international work packages. 

-Develop and maintain key strategic relationships with IO, F4E, Beryllium Health & Safety Committee and other external organisations where appropriate. 

-Project manager for the delivery of specialist beryllium and tritium safety contracts. 

-As technical expert provide specialist advice to the Head of Business Development and Head of Assurance as required. 

-Learning from experience and data exchange on radiological safety with a range of internal and external partners / collaborators as well as The Beryllium Science & Technology Association (BeST), Beryllium Health & Safety Committee and other external organisations where appropriate. 

-Benchmark HP Group practices and performance against world class organisations and provide lessons learned to ensure continuous improvement. 

-Ensure UKAEA`s position (as a leading Beryllium expert) is represented in any forthcoming changes to standards and regulations. 

-Manage projects to the value of £200,000 per annum. 

-Represent UKAEA interest on strategic health physics forums and committees. 

-Act as the lead for the specification and delivery of a variety of internal support and external commercial projects within the Health Physics Group.

Knowledge skills and experience 

Essential 
-Degree in relevant sciences e.g. chemistry, biology 
-Occupational hygiene and safety qualifications (COSHH) 
-Deep working knowledge of practices in Occupational Hygiene and management of hazardous substances in unique environments, for example handling beryllium. 
-Project management 
-Business development experience / commercial acumen 
-Good communication skills and ability to prioritise 

Desirable 
-Appropriate Membership of a professional body e.g. BIOH, IOSH 
-Knowledge of Health Physics practices 
-Experience in human and organisational factors 

Special requirements:
