The Estates Division is currently recruiting for an experienced and knowledgeable Fire Safety Officer (FSO) to join the facilities team. Working across the organisation to provide support, guidance and expert assistance for all fire safety matters and work with the other members of the team to ensure the organisation meets its statutory obligations in line with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
You will have experience of undertaking fire risk assessments across a multi-site organisation and of working to strict deadlines in an ever changing environment. You will act as the nominated responsible person in relation to fire safety, ensuring that the University meets all of its statutory and non-statutory fire safety management duties in relation to fire safety legislation and associated building regulations. You will provide a proactive professional functional service embracing all areas of fire safety management including: development of strategy and policy, maintaining a quality information system, undertaking fire risk assessment, fire safety inspections/audits, investigating fire safety incidents, and contract management.
The post holder should have good customer services skills, be polite and able to process technical information and answer queries using both verbal and written communication. You should have experience in working with customers in a university or similar environment, have excellent verbal and written communication skills and good knowledge of Microsoft office.
