Your new company
This reputable university based in London has a complex estate rich in history and size. They have a central H&S team made up of generalists and specialists health & safety advisors as well as a dedicated Fire Safety Team lead by a Fire Safety Manager. This central fire safety team provides competent fire safety advice and practical assistance across the Estate.

Your new role

Working within the small but dynamic fire safety team as a qualified fire safety professional you will be responsible for:

  • Implementing and delivering the fire safety management systems, including liaison
    with departments, to ensure compliance and good practice;
  • Implementing and delivering fire risk assessments, fire safety audits and reviews;
  • Delivering a range of fire safety training
  • Providing specialist technical advice to inform the compilation of Personal Emergency
    Escape Plans (PEEP's)
  • Provide general support and assistance to the Estate's capital and maintenance
    building projects, from feasibility to completion
You will also be working to support the team to make sure the fire safety management system practices comply with Fire Safety Order 2005 and maintain accreditation's such as BAFE SP205 and PAS 7.

What you'll need to succeed
In order to be successful you must have a positive 'can-do' attitude and have a collaborative and flexible approach to safety. You will need to hold relevant fire safety professional qualifications and either be or be working towards Membership of the IFE (or equivalent.) You will need to demonstrate experience in both the inspection side and management side, ideally within an equally complex and diverse organisation. Thorough up-to-date knowledge of legislation is essential as well as the ability to influence and negotiate with senior leaders.
