An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Fire & Safety Adviser to join a highly professional Health and Safety Team based in the Human Resources Department. The ideal candidate will be able to impart and provide fire safety advice, training and support in a way that creates an environment where fire safety is part of day to day life within the University. 

 

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will conduct fire risk assessments, develop and implement a fire safety management system, plan fire safety activities and provide fire safety advice on active and passive fire systems under the direction of the Head of Health and Safety, liaising with staff in Property and Facilities (PAF). They will check all aspects of building plans, location, occupancy, producing reports on audits, inspections and fire incident investigations while ensuring the University is compliant in all aspects of fire safety.

Person Specification

The postholder will have a background in fire safety will be qualified to degree level, working towards a diploma in health and safety, or fire safety, hold the C05 Certificate in Fire Risk Assessment or equivalent, National Health and Safety Certificate (NEBOSH Cert) and ideally will be IOSH registered. They will have excellent communication skills and ideally have substantial proven experience as a health and safety professional working within an educational or public sector environment.
