We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic Health & Safety Officer to take the role of the ‘competent person’ for Health & Safety and to deliver the Corporate Health & Safety function across the Council.
 
The Borough Council has approximately 500 full time and 100 casual employees delivering services from a range of premises including:
 
Depot, Waste Transfer Station & Garage
Crematorium & Cemeteries
Leisure & Museum facilities
Offices and Customer Contact Centres
Community Centres & a variety of commercial premises
Parks & public open space.
 
You will be providing advice and support to managers, employees and external organisations, including liaison with the Health and Safety Executive. 
You will be required to conduct a full range of advisory and technical duties necessary to ensure that relevant statutory functions relating to all aspects of Health & Safety are complied with and upon occasions undertaking an enforcement type approach to ensure the health, safety and welfare of employees and others using the Councils facilities. 
 
You will also be required to create and deliver training on a range of health & safety subject areas and therefore previous training experience would be an advantage.
You will update and develop policies relating to health and safety and be and administrator for the Councils corporate H&S IT system.
 
You should have experience of working in health & safety, have a NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety and you should have Corporate membership of IOSH.

Working a flexible scheme of 37 hours, you must also be able to work outside normal office hours including weekends and have a full, current valid driving licence with access to a vehicle which is available for work purposes.
