The RNLI views the Safety and Health of our people, both staff and volunteers and protection of the Environment as part of our core values. This role will play a pivotal part in our efforts to develop and maintain the highest standards of Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) management, by providing SHE expertise across the RNLI, as part of the RNLI QSHE Team.
Responsible for advising and guiding staff and volunteers and working collaboratively with all areas of the organisation to embed a proactive safety culture by influencing how we put SHE at the heart of our plans and services. As well as SHE, the role will also contain a ‘quality’ element and will involve working in close conjunction with the Quality and Compliance Manager to assist with a broader Quality and Compliance approach.
We are looking for an experienced SHE professional to cover the South East Region who will be used to dealing with a range of SHE issues and who has the ability to prioritise efforts in changing and challenging environments. Sites will include our Inshore Lifeboat Centre, lifeboat stations, shops, museums, fundraising events, support centres and lifeguarded beaches, amongst others.
The role will be home-based but will require extensive travel to ensure that sites within the South East are appropriately managed from a SHE perspective. Reporting to the Senior QSHE Manager, you will have the qualifications, experience and determination to drive improvements within the South East and to the wider organisation. You will be self-motivated with a ‘can-do’ attitude that embodies the values of the RNLI and has the resilience and tenacity to deliver measurable results in a diverse and large scale organisation.
You will be covering the South East Region sites from Southend-on-Sea in Essex to Swanage in Dorset and also includes the Channel Islands.
