To support facility arrangements for the management and control of the Facility Safety Case and supporting safety documentation, including Safe Operating Envelope (SOE), Examination Maintenance Inspection and Testing (EMIT) and Modification Control Committee (MCC) arrangements, and to support the preparation and delivery of Facility periodic Review of Safety including all supporting documentation.
To review proposed modifications against the requirements of the Safety Case and advise on the implications of such modifications
Provide advice, guidance and awareness of the Facility Safety Case and its requirements
Review and update the Facility Safety Case in accordance with the Company assurance process to ensure continued applicability and acceptability
Supporting Periodic Review of Safety
To provide information to, and engage with, internal and external stakeholders on all issues relating to the Facility Safety Case
To assess the impact of proposed changes to Company arrangements, Instructions and Procedures on the Facility Safety Case and its supporting arrangements
To assist in the validation process to ensure that all proposed modifications meet with all relevant Company and regulatory requirements
To review, assess and report on the acceptability of the Facility arrangements for implementing the requirements of the Safety Case
To provide Safety Case support to the Facility Modification Control Committee to enable the committee to fulfil its duties under the conditions of the Nuclear Site Licence
To provide support and assistance to the Safety Case Manager in the management of the Facility Safety Case in accordance with the Company Assurance process
To provide support and assistance to the Safety Case Manager in the management and delivery of Periodic Reviews of Safety
To provide support and assistance to the Safety Case Manager reviewing and assessing the impact of changes to external stakeholder requirements and legislation on the continued acceptability of the Facility Safety Case
To advise on the implications of proposed modifications to plant, equipment and operating regimes to the Facility MCC
HNC and Engineering experience, or demonstrable equivalents
An engineering or science degree is preferred
Understanding of Facility Systems/Processes/Procedures
Understanding of nuclear site licensing arrangements
Understanding of probabilistic and deterministic safety assessment processes, fault trees and human factor principles
Experience with facilitating effective interactions with other disciplines at all levels within a large organisation
Experience of modern safety case processes including nuclear site licensing requirements
Experience of preparing safety cases, HAZOPs, fault trees, risk assessments and other supporting documentation within the nuclear industry
Experience of the regulatory regime and regulatory expectations
Flexible and able to take a broader view of issues
Classified Radiation Worker Status or the willingness to achieve this
