Our client has adopted a growth strategy for its Energy Business, requiring an ongoing supply of new contracts, from both existing and new clients in each of the Energy Business sectors and services, i.e. Power, Upstream, Downstream and Inspection.

Making successful proposals and tendering is a challenging endeavour, particularly when operating in these business sectors and markets. Whilst one of the primary responsibilities of the position is, therefore, the coordination, preparation and follow-up of effective proposals and tenders, the position offers much more, including client interaction, attention to service delivery, responding to client queries and marketing.

The position carries a significant degree of both authority and responsibility, and as such a key performance indicator will be the proposals success rate. The successful candidate will also be expected to influence continuous improvement in the bid process and other business development activities.

Details of some of the responsibilities follow.
The position reports to the Manager of Energy Proposals and is offered on a local terms and conditions basis.

This role is focused on the Energy Bids and Proposals process and the implementation and consistent application of best practise within EMEA as promoted by the Business Development function. The Proposals Manager takes a lead role in preparing, submitting and negotiating Bids and Proposals to clients in conjunction with the appropriate Operational / Business Managers.

The role involves assessing complex problems for internal/external clients where the parameters are not well defined and to determine solutions, often where previous experience does not provide any precedent.

Degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline or in business studies or related field.
Knowledge of one of the key Energy business sectors and services, i.e. Power, Upstream, Downstream and Inspection.

Knowledge of contracting strategies, proposals/tender preparation, Commercial & Legal awareness.
Established or developing personal  network.
Good communication capabilities, being able to communicate well, both verbal and written.
Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Ability to prioritise work and meet specified deadlines.
Customer and solution driven.
