A major U.K. telecoms company has an urgent requirement to recruit a project manager ideally with previous telecoms and transitional management experience. The role involves project managing the transition of an LAN from one supplier to another for the local authority, while ensuring that the service to the customer is maintained. Though this is not a technical role, previous experience of voice or data delivery with the transitional management would be warmly received.
The role will initially be on a 9 month fixed term contract though there is a possibility of this being extended as new work streams materialise. The role will essentially be based in the Peterborough area, but there will be the need to complete site visits as such applicants must have access to a mode of transport. The role will pay a salary of £45-50000 pro rata, 25 days holidays, healthcare and a bonus. Responsibilities • To take responsibility for the end to end delivery, including financial accountability, for standard and non-standard projects within the customer environment that require the management of a virtual project team incorporating resources from across the Client business and from external suppliers, if relevant. • To provide project leadership, direction and control to internal and external suppliers and key business stakeholders in a project delivery context. • To achieve high levels of Customer Satisfaction, by ensuring full technical, financial and business benefits are achieved in all aspects of Client Business solutions. • To provide support to the Client Business Account and Bid teams in order to win new business. • To establish and maintain key supplier interfaces and relationships, both within Client and with any required external suppliers. • Ensure internal and external reporting requirements of customer projects and programmes are collated, analysed and distributed to all required parties in a timely and accurate manner. • Control the ongoing delivery of projects and programmes ensuring ongoing compliance with ‘time, cost and quality’ parameters set out during project/programme set-up. • Achieve ongoing operational improvements by employing a continuous review cycle to ensure all processes and procedures operate efficiently and where appropriate drive change in the appropriate business area • To define the project scope, ensure all appropriate ‘pre-sales’ governance steps have been undertaken with specific regard to the technical solution and financial business case. • To ensure all projects are delivered to baseline milestones, financial and quality plans in order to deliver defined business benefits by ongoing review of project progress, regular reviews of project budget and continuous review of quality of deliverables. • To manage changes in project scope by the use of appropriate ‘change control’ procedures as well as managing all risk and issues using established procedures. Required Experience • Strong customer facing and interpersonal skills with the ability to employ strong leadership skills especially through matrix management of informal/virtual teams. Proven negotiation, conflict management and influencing skills. • • Knowledge and understanding of customer networks and applications, and their integration with Client Business’s network and technical solutions. • Proven ability to identify both project and business risk and to put in place mitigation plans. • Evidence as a team player with proven people skills, who can mentor individuals within a virtual team structure, in order to achieve results and improve performance. • Must be self motivated and able to demonstrate confidence at all times, able to influence customer choice and manage customers’ expectations. • Must have a valid UK Driving Licence Bluefire consulting is an employment agency acting on behalf of the client company. |
