My client is one of Irelands most successful Building & Civil Engineering contractors having undertaken some of the regions most prestigious projects over the last 50 years. They have developed into a regional contractor with satellite offices throughout the UK & Ireland and currently have a requirement for a permanent Health & Safety Advisor to be based locally. Role This position will require the successful individual to: - Undertake regular health and safety inspections and audits of production locations and contract sites in accordance with an agreed programme. - Investigate and report on accidents, dangerous occurrences, ill health and near misses. - Advise and assist employees on all aspects of health and safety management and legislation. - Implement Company's Health and Safety Improvement Plan. - Deliver health and safety training as required, including induction and continuing induction programmes. - Continual promotion of a Health and Safety ethos and culture among employees and sub contractors. - Submit suitable and sufficient responses to tender pre qualification questionnaires and related quality submissions in respect of health and safety. - Convene and lead health and safety meetings as required. - Prepare health and safety reports and/or accident statistics for management meetings or as required by the Divisional Health and Safety Director.. - Continual improvement of the health and safety management system leading to achievement of Divisional targets. - Support management teams in developing and implementing construction phase health and safety plans, health and safety standards and related operating procedures. Opportunity This is an immediate opportunity for a Health & Safety Professional demonstrating and holding the following criteria: Chartered member of IOSH and educated to degree standard. Consideration will be given to suitably experienced applicants who are not graduates. At least 2 years experience in an operational health and safety role. Self motivated. Able to demonstrate initiative whilst working in a team environment. Good working knowledge of all current health and safety legislation. Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal. Problem solving with willingness to develop effective health and safety solutions with employees at all levels and sub-contractors.
