Head of Health & Safety - Surrey
Our client, one of the leading Telecommunications companies are currently seeking a Head of Health & Safety to be based out of their head office in Surrey. The role will encompass of Managing and Implementing their NWE Region including Europe so it is a International role whilst being predominantly based in Surrey. This role will be a varied and rewarding consisting of People Management, HS&E Management Systems, Information Instruction and Training, Audits & Inspections, New business and more. Purpose of the Role - Provide strategic direction for the Company on the management of health and safety, environmental and sustainability issues. - Play a leading part in developing the wellbeing and corporate social responsibility strategies and activities for the business. - Ensure the business has robust, legally compliant, measurable, risk based Health, Safety and Environment management systems that meet the needs of the business. - Provide effective line management and development of the HS&E team in the delivery of services for the Company. - Responsible for provision of consultancy and advice to managers, design and delivery of Health and Safety Training to managers and staff, risk assessment, inspection, audit, management reporting, bid input and compliance for the whole organisation including contractors and temporary staff. - Through the HS&E centre of competence, provide consultancy, advice and support service to the managers at all locations on all HS&E issues to ensure that they exercise a duty of care to all staff while meeting the operational needs of the business. - Develop and implement strategies for HS&E audits and inspections that includes internal and external audits. - Maintain relationships with HSE, local authority, Environment Agency, Fire Brigades, IOSH, IEMA, EEF, Intellect, etc as required to ensure statutory requirements met, current industry best practice is understood and where appropriate lobbying in respect of new legislation etc takes place. Key Requirements for the Role - Degree or postgraduate diploma or equivalent in Occupational Health and Safety Management which is recognised by the Chartered Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) and Chartered membership of IOSH (CMIOSH / CFIOSH) - Certificate in environmental management or equivalent that is recognised by the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) and Associate membership of IEMA (AIEMA) - Knowledge and experience of developing and implementing formal health and safety and environmental management systems such as OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001. - Knowledge and experience of managing high risk activities such as Hostile Environment deployments, Construction (CDM), etc. - Knowledge and experience of developing sustainability and corporate social responsibility strategies and processes. - Experience of formulating HS&E strategy and converting it into documented policy.
