Health, Safety and Environmental Consultant
Mabbett & Associates Ltd (M&A) is a multi-disciplinary environmental, health and safety, and sustainable energy consulting and engineering firm which is seeking an experienced health and safety professional to join the team full time as a Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Consultant. Based at the company’s Glasgow office, the post will require travel primarily within the U.K., and occasional overnight stays, subject to project assignments.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have:
· an Honours Bachelors or Masters Degree (preferred) in one of the following disciplines: health and safety, environmental health/science or a related subject;
· as a minimum, the NEBOSH National General Certificate;
· membership/chartered status with an appropriate professional organisation, for example IOSH, IIRSM, BOHS;
· demonstrated and progressive experience in either consultancy or manufacturing;
· knowledge of current and upcoming health and safety legislation ;
· experience of negotiating and dealing with regulatory bodies, local authorities and private clients;
· experience with project scoping, budgeting and the preparation of associated tenders;
· good writing and personal communication skills;
· the ability to present health and safety information clearly and pertinently to persons at all levels;
· experience in developing and delivering health and safety training;
· proficiency in computer packages including Microsoft Office® packages: Word, Access, and Excel, and
· a valid, clean driver’s license.
Experience:
The above position requires tangible experience in one or more of the following areas:
· conducting occupational hygiene monitoring programmes (area and personal sampling for airborne substances, use of direct readout instruments, etc.), indoor air quality surveys, and occupational noise assessments.
· conducting risk assessments, including legislation specific, e.g. COSHH, DSE, Fire, and health and safety audits;
· developing and reviewing health and safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
· developing and delivering health and safety training.
· developing, implementing and auditing individual and/or integrated health and safety, quality and environmental management systems to include: OHSAS 18001/ISO 14001/BS 8555/ISO 9001.
The successful candidate will also support the firm’s Marketing and Business Development activities on an as-needed basis within the U.K., Ireland and the EU.
