This role is critical to ensure the safeguarding of the health and environmental integrity of our University. You will be responsible for the development of our Safety, Health and Environmental strategy and policies, meeting the need of our organisation as well as relevant legislation. As the focal point for the development of our long-term strategy, policy, advice, training and adoption of good practice across all safety, health and environmental matters, your work will directly impact on the lives of all our staff and students. As such, your remit is wide-ranging and far-reaching, promoting our environmental policy and implementation of a management system to meet ISO 14001 certification standards - all-in-all helping maintain a world-class environment that produces world-class results.
 
To maximise the effectiveness of your role, you will have a Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH), and be a full chartered member, MIOSH. With at least five years’ experience of working in health and safety, preferably within a higher education, public sector or commercial environment in a management role. Beyond that, you will have the ability to drive strategy, implement policies and take the lead on safety, health and environmental issues.
