An opportunity exists for an experienced Safety professional to join one of Yorkshires leaders in power supply and lead the safety department in providing support and guidance to our client.
 
The Safety Manager is responsible for setting the standards for safety on site and developing and improving the safety culture and performance of the Station both through strategic influence and direct interactions.
 
Reporting to the Station Director the post-holder’s responsibilities will include:

- contributing across the full range of the business as part of the Station Management Team
- creating and implementing a pro-active performance improvement strategy
- setting, reinforcing and monitoring appropriate standards of safe behaviour and work practices
- delivering a common approach to safety management
- establishing and maintaining an effective pro-active safety management system
- developing and managing the Station safety improvement plans and subsequent programmes
- providing an advisory and monitoring service
- actively sponsoring and promoting the Health & Safety Committee and all safety improvement
- projects
- monitoring and reporting on overall safety performance of the Station, formulating and driving
- strategies for improvement
- ensuring compliance with current and emerging legislative requirements


Essential attributes/qualifications/experience:

- CMIOSH Status
- NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent
- A proven background in developing and managing effective safety systems having managed change and driven safety improvements.
- ideally hold a recognised management qualification
- high degree of self-motivation and direction
- proven flexibility and adaptability
- ability to coach, lead, direct and motivate staff using effective communication skills
- professionalism and high levels of initiative, self-motivation, enthusiasm and leadership skills
- IT, administrative and reporting skills
