A large client of ours is looking for a Head of Occupational Health & Safety to work at their premises in Milton Keynes. You will be required to manage a team of 6 staff, including admins, H&S and Occupational Health Advisors.

Candidates must have the following qualifications;

- Diploma (or equivalent) in Occupational Safety and Health
- Chartered Membership of IOSH

Here is a brief outline of the job;

- Provide health and safety support, advice and direction to senior management
- Identify key business Health and Safety risks and advise on appropriate control/ protection measures
- Develop key Health and Safety management procedures/ systems
- Review accident data and compile reports/statistics
- Establish/ facilitate Health and Safety project teams
- Evaluate and update the company on forthcoming legislation
- Report back on any legal breaches or policy non compliance issues
- Investigate serious accidents/incidents
- Advise on Health and Safety training needs and develop/deliver training programmes
- Provide support & structure to line managers
- Lead, manage support, direct and develop Health and Safety Advisers, other specialists, Unit Safety Coordinators and Departmental Safety Advisers (DSA)
- Support and develop Occupational Health Advisers, and Occupational Health Physicians
- Support and advise on contracted activities
- Compile management performance reports
- Liaise with and provide point of contact with enforcing authorities/ client
- Liaise with Trade Union Officials and Safety Representatives
- Provide regular input to health and safety committee meetings
- Provide advice on high level occupational and operational Health & Safety issues
- Monitor and audit progress
- Promote health and safety initiatives and progress
- Maintain Continual Professional Development (CPD)
